Greetings Les Racqueteers,
I’m writing you from Baltimore, Maryland. I was reflecting on a crazy weekend and thought it was high time for an update. Last week we played a set at THE FIRE in Philadelphia. People liked it! We met some great people. One dude we met is the singer-songwriter that goes by the name “GRIZ“. We listened to his album on our drive to Harrisburg the following day and we really enjoyed it. I would recommend you check out his works. When we arrived in Harrisburg a group of friends met us for dinner and dranks to celebrate my 25th birthday. I was wearing my new Bruins jersey and even though Harrisburg doesn’t have an NHL team, there were a few folks and a few run-ins with Flyers and Penguins fans. They didn’t seem to like me very much…
Saturday Night rolled around and the HMAC was packed for a strong line-up of bands that had us headlining. The bands were Backroad (Philly), The Click Clack Boom (Brooklyn), and Vanessa Bley’s Beast Patrol (NYC). Excellent people and solid musicians comprised all the groups and we had a great time getting to know them. Don’t ask me how, but Les Racquet and Beast Patrol may have ended up spending the night in the penthouse suite at the Hilton Harrisburg. Our friends whiskey, gin, wine and PBR were also in attendance. Good thing we negotiated that late 2pm check out. Blurry eyed and hungover, we rolled out of Harrisburg saying things like, “how the hell did that just happen” and “what exactly was that”. Much thanks to our friends and fans there. We can’t wait to come back.
Superbowl Sunday found us here in Baltimore to watch the game with Kenny’s cousin and friends. Turns out, they’re all Giants fans which made the tough loss a little bit tougher. The guacamole was great however!
Tomorrow, we drive to Greensboro, NC for the first show of 4 dates booked with the band Leaving Venus. We’re excited to share the bill with these guys. We’re also excited because all of our shows from here to SXSW are in cities that we’ve never played before (refer to blog post title). Here’s a call to action: as we explore the southland, we’re looking to expand our tour schedule and take advantage of as many musical opportunities as we can. If you are a venue, a band looking to fill out a bill, a radio show that is loved by many, or a couch looking to get slept on by a non-famous but driven musician… please send us an email at contact@lesracquet.com. Tell us the scoop or just say what’s up. Oh yeah and buy our new EP “Be Water, My Friend”. It’s name your own price. All proceeds go directly into our gas tank and/or into the “Next Album Fund”. Thank you for reading!
Best Regards,
Patrick
